Amidst all the Mixtape / Lookbook / New AnmlHse Collection talk this week, we’ve been steady at work bring’n some new & old designs to the table in sticker format for all our fellow supporters. We’ve been in the game for about 3 years now and have yet to order any good quality stickers for all of your sketchbooks, local street signs, mac books, etc. which baffles me if I do say so myself. The Streetwear bible says you must drop a line; t-shirts, hats, crewnecks and stickers. Who are we to break the code of the illimunati? So in the next few weeks, expect your whole life to be vandalized with this random assortment of sticker designs. These are only a few, new never before seen designs and also old but classic designs alike that we will probably be releasing in an assorted pack. The homie Andy Cool hit me up earlier today and told me he spotted Mario laced up in some AnmlHse gear way down in Japan…in print format. Because of the regional association I assumed Super Mario Bros at first, but the platinum singer is just as comforting. Much props to Mario for stylin’ on em in our Big Deal Hoody.

Flash back to our first month of AnmlHse when we weren’t making apparel. Our sole mission was to create lovely ad campaigns for our supporters. Reem and I pulled a bunch of late night shifts together (#AllHomo) and only one video on BET’s late night rotation had us on a constant sing-along frenzy. Don’t judge us.

So, thank you Mario for getting us through those rough nights.

First off, as we speak, the AnmlHse team is working on a special side project, The Frat Pack Lookbook. This project includes all current members of AnmlHse that made it to the Philly photoshoot 2 weeks ago. The idea came about a month ago because in a few posts from now, we will be comemorating our 1,000th post! It’s been a long road with this AnmlHse brand. Basically, this Lookbook is a visual showcase of the brands history as well as introducing each character that makes AnmlHse what it is. The project will combine photographic & typographic elements, as well as include illustrative efforts from BrianTheDogg & GeekAllStar. Here’s a small preview of a group photo, without the typography and layout elements.

We don’t wanna give away too much so stay tuned for this project, hopefully we will be dropping it July 23rd.

Secondly, I made the announcement 2 weeks ago of an AnmlHse mixtape in the works, titled BYOB. Well, all the tracks have been submitted, and we pretty much have Volume 1 and Volume 2 in the works. The homie DJ Philly Will shall be blending & mixing the tracks together to give it a party feel. Just to let everyone know, we have acquired exclusive, unreleased and new tracks from some of our closest friends in the emerging music scene, in Philly and abroad. Some of them being The Paxtons, Theo Martins, Ninjasonik, Tabi Bonney, tu Phace, Fresh Daily, Gilbere Forte, Rockie Fresh and many many more. The list goes on my friends, and so far Volume 1 is 21 tracks deep. Just know that it will be released on Monday, August 1st, as of now. And also, there will be a release party that week but the logisitics of the event have not been solidified yet. Just know, there will be a huge celebration in Philly. Be on the lookout for the Album Art & Tracklisting that will drop a few days before the release.

If you guys follow any of the Anmls on Twitter, I’m sure you’ve caught wind of us compiling music for an official AnmlHse mixtape. Well you’ve heard correctly folks. It’s going down like the catalina winemixer! Corny movie quotes aside, this is going to be an epic venture that we’re embarking on. Throughout the years, we’ve come into contact with some of the most talented, driven and fun musicians that every city has to offer. Because of our eclectic interest in genres, from Hip-Hop to Electro all the way to Pop and Punk, the artists on this mixtape reflect that and offers a variety of tunes for everybody to enjoy. Also, to differ ourselves from the rest of the Streetwear brands out there, co-signing one specific artist or compiling the latest tracks from mainstream artists I decided it would be best to pay homage to the underground and up-and-coming artists. Now that’s not to say that if you’re not on the mixtape then you’re not talented, but here at AnmlHse since day 1 we’ve always believed in being able to branch out and reach out to new artists but also keeping it in the family as well. Pause. But seriously, the artists that we are in contact with support us and vice versa so it’s only right. After these first 2 volumes drop, we will be taking song submissions for future mixtape releases so no worries :O)

In keeping with the AnmlHse spirit, the mixtapes will be called “BYOB” and will be in volumes. Hopefully every 3 months or so. They will be mixed and blended together by the homie DJ Philly Will, with artistic direction from the AnmlHse staff. I won’t reveal who’s on the mixtape just yet, but all I have to say is be ready for this to be on heavy rotation. If you pay attention to the New Music: section of this blog then you’ll see some familiar names on the mixtape. There is no official release date yet, but we’re hoping to have Volume 1 done by the end of June so be on the lookout for the Album Art & Tracklisting in the next few weeks. Stay tuned fellow Anmls!

Rest In Paradise: Sabina Rose O’Donnell.

It’s still very difficult for me to actually acknowledge that you’re gone. Known by many to be a petite girl with a giant heart, she was always sweet and always dancing whenever she wasn’t working. I could never imagine a person such as her could die so violently, in the blink of an eye. But in the end, I think she would would be amazed how many people cared about her. How many people are supporting her family and sending her prayers. Philadelphia’s reaction to your death is astounding, and a heartbreaking reality check. Death always finds a way to bring people together. I’d like to think it’s because it makes us realize how fragile we really are. I wish we could’ve gotten closer but I cherish the fun times we had party’n and of course chill’n in The Piazza. You will be missed, kiddo.

There is a movement in Philly to bring her killer to justice. Tommy Up; Owner of the PYT Restaurant & Bar where she worked, has started a Sabina Rose O’Donnell Fund.
